Before you go house shopping
Your coaches explain what to do
before
you shop for a house.
Instructional Text
If you’ve decided you’re ready to buy a home, there are some important steps you need to take before you go house shopping: make a game plan, evaluate how much you can pay, choose a lender, and get preapproved for a loan.
That’s right. The process of homebuying is made much easier if you shop for a mortgage first, and then shop for a house.
In addition to reviewing this lesson, we strongly recommend you take a look at the next two: The Homebuying Process and Getting a Mortgage.
Also, consider taking a class for first-time homebuyers. Many lenders, realtors, and homebuilders sponsor them. Check your local newspaper or search on the Web to find a class near you.
